Lifeboat one

The Lifeboat One module is a fully equipped shelter system, providing a safe haven for up to four people. Through the implementation of latest technologies, the Lifeboat One provides autarc survivability and long-duration sustainability. Based on a 40' foot container layout, the research & development project foresees to implement a bunker-typed infrastructure (e.g. beds, kitchen, storage, control room, life support). The system offers an autarc life support functionality (regeneration of food, water and oxygen) under semi closed-loop principles. The system allows survivability of up to 12 months. Regenerative energy conversion, waste management, holistic data archive, and long-range communication capability complement the Lifeboat One system.

Alpha Base

This research project handles with the design of a complete base infrastructure for a local community of up to 100 people. Within the transport mode the system fits within a 40' Highcube shipping container. This way high flexibility and easy transportability is ensured. Upon deployment location, the system can rapidly transform into a preliminary base camp, providing life support functions towards its crew and infrastructure. The system stores up to 25 lightweight inflatable 4-person tents for site build-up. The core systems provide renewable energy systems, waste management units, medical ICU, workshop, and data handling and communication units. An inflatable power grid interconnects the different tents with each other. In-situ resource utilization (e.g. water provision, energy, raw material mining, and agriculture devices, ensure the sustainability of the community in the first crucial months upon deployment.  

Seed Vault

Plant selection and life stock is essential to the survival of humanity with respect to food generation. The Seed Vault is a long-duration storage system, providing a wide range of horticultural crop seeds, cultivation equipment, chemical analysis equipment (& sensors), initial set of fertilizer, and detailed user cultivation manuals. Restarting agricultural, and horticultural procedures can provide a solid ground for the survivability of human communities. The Seed Vault system can accelerate community restarts after the local supply chains have broken down.
